Food and Beverage Ontario (FBO) is working with the province to reach youth and new Canadians through building the profile of the food and beverage processing sector.
The campaign will officially launch in the fall, along with a new web-based platform that will host all sorts of informative content, including different educational paths individuals can take in finding career opportunities in the sector.
“We’re very excited to be working with the Province of Ontario on a much-needed strategy that will build awareness on the great spectrum of job opportunities in the food and beverage processing industry,” shared Norm Beal, CEO of Food and Beverage Ontario.
The campaign comes at an important time, with a deficit of people entering the industry, yet an increased need and an increase in job openings in the growing, flourishing sector. FBO says part of the issue is a misguided image of the sector, and limited awareness of the myriad of impressive career opportunities that are available – from food scientists to CFOs to chefs and beyond.
FBO’s annual conference, which was held in June, touched on this campaign, along with other industry trade/market issues.
Currently FBO is in the research phase, working to gather a deeper understanding of the specific skills that are in need. FBO has issued a survey that is open to processors across Ontario – please feel free to fill out and/or share.
