We are looking for the right person for a Municipal Local Food Procurement project!
Job Description:
The Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance seeks a project manager to work with chefs, long term care staff, food service operators, producers and distributors to find creative and new ways to maximize local food purchases in municipally- operated long term care facilities and cafeterias. The Project Manager will require strong communication and relationship-building skills, significant experience in food service and/or long term care sectors, proficiency in food service contract negotiations and procurement procedure, the ability to identify and source local food products and providers, and the capability to train others in a workshop setting.
Specifically, the successful candidate will:
– Build sector relationships with food service and relevant staff in four Golden Horseshoe municipalities
– Develop a specific action plan for each of the four participating municipalities within the Golden Horseshoe
– Analyze and track food service purchases and benchmark current local food purchases
– Work with existing suppliers to identify and increase the amount of local food purchased
– Identify local food substitutions & new local food service suppliers to provide options
– Assist municipal procurement staff in drafting local food contractual language for new food service contracts
– Conduct sector workshops to educate and train long term care and other MUSH sector staff in procurement policies and practices for local food purchases
