Niagara Region to begin implementation of Grown in Niagara Agricultural Action Plan

Agriculture is a foundational pillar of Niagara’s economy, ranking among the Region’s largest employers, top contributors to GDP, and champions of environmental stewardship.

The Grown in Niagara Agriculture Action Plan, developed through extensive input from operators, researchers, municipal leaders, and sector partners, outlines a bold, coordinated vision for the future. Focused on innovation, collaboration, and sustainability, the Plan provides a roadmap of actionable initiatives to strengthen and grow Niagara’s agriculture sector over the next five years.

The Plan is built around five key Success Factors:

  • Building a Unified Identity for Agriculture in Niagara
  • Working Together to Reduce Red Tape
  • Protecting Agriculture Talent and Inspiring the Next Generation
  • Attracting High Value Agri-Based Investment
  • Proactively Embracing a Changing Climate

By advancing these priorities, the Region and its partners, including the lead implementation partner the Niagara Federation of Agriculture are committed to supporting a thriving, resilient, and sustainable agriculture community for generations to come.

Grown in Niagara – Action Plan sets a clear vision for the future of Niagara’s agriculture sector. Developed with input from farmers, researchers, and industry partners, it outlines priorities to drive innovation, sustainability, talent development, investment, and climate resilience.

This five-year roadmap provides strategies to strengthen Niagara’s leadership in Canadian agriculture and support long-term success for farmers, agri-businesses, and the broader community.
