Golden Horseshoe Regional municipalities (York, Halton, Niagara, Peel, Durham), the City of Hamilton and stakeholders including Toronto Food Policy, officially endorse Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Action Plan 2021.
GTA AAC Chair Nick Ferri, Peter Lambrick, Chair of the Food and Farming Steering Committee, and GTA AAC Executive Coordinator Janet Horner have spent the past three months providing an overview of the Action Plan to the five regional municipalities of the Golden Horseshoe (York, Halton, Niagara, Peel and Durham), the City of Hamilton and various stakeholders including Toronto Food Policy. The presentations provided details of the many economic benefits the food and farming cluster, the second largest in North America, brings to Ontario and Canada, including thousands of jobs, export opportunities and annual economic activity in Ontario valued at $12.3 billion.
