Halton Healthcare Services celebrated Local Food Week last month in style, hosting a Local Food Expo at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on June 4. The expo aimed to teach participants about the local food chain, while giving the opportunity for people to talk to local growers and a variety of other vendors. (Visitors also enjoyed some delicious samples!)
Some of the many vendors included: the Greenbelt Fund, Gordon Food Service, Signature Culinary Solutions, Springridge Farms, Stonehaven Farms, Windmill Farms, Real Sweets, Andrew’s Scenic Acres, Nudefruit, and more.
With a variety of groups to learn from, the day was sure to be a success.
Local food support is of no doubt great importance to the Halton Healthcare team, as the HHS food team is also developing a local food procurement policy intended to get more local food into hospital kitchens!
Check out the Halton Healthcare Site here for some great photos from the Expo.
Kudos to Halton Healthcare for the successful day!
