Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Summit Webinar June 23rd

Thursday, May 21, 2020

While our plans for an in-person Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Summit had to change as a result of COVID-19, we are pleased to be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The time is now to build a resilient and vibrant path forward for food and farming in the Golden Horseshoe. With a refresh of the Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance (GHFFA) Action Plan already underway, the timing is ideal to gather together (virtually) to focus on tangible and positive actions that can move the sector within the Golden Horseshoe forward.

The webinar will include a panel of speakers who will discuss the future of food and farming in the Golden Horseshoe.

We are delighted to welcome our panelists for this timely conversation:

  • Darlene McBain, Moderator (Manager of Industry Relations, Farm Credit Canada)
  • Mike Von Massow (Chair, Food Systems Leadership, University of Guelph)
  • Robynne Anderson (President, Emerging Ag)
  • David McInnes (Principal, DMci Strategies)
  • Kirk Kemp (Producer, Algoma Orchards)

We will also provide an update and opportunity for early feedback on the updated GHFFA 5-year action plan. Opportunities for discussion as well as a follow-up survey will be provided. We welcome all feedback and input from across the value chain.

We have continued to conduct research on issues and trends related to the food and farming sector within the Golden Horseshoe and we have enjoyed talking to members of the working group and board over the phone and online. We are also resuming our outreach to key stakeholders across the value chain for interviews to further inform the updated GHFFA Action Plan.

Details for how to join the webinar will be sent out closer to the webinar date.
